First of all: the second winner...
Congratulations to Josh D.! Contact me about your prize.
Purchased: $25 from Atlanta Sports Cards
I had been looking for this product for a while, and I finally found a price I liked at Atlanta Sports Cards.
The most unique thing about this set is the base card design. They have a bumpy texture and the players stick out a little bit. I enjoy them and the texture makes the cards unique, but they aren't amazing.
The base set is a small 84 card set, and each box contains 18 packs of five cards. I obtained 76 of 84 base cards in my box. This product is great for an easy set to build. I'm missing cards 46, 48, 54, 56, 62, 70, 72, and 80 if anyone wants to help me out!
Here are the inserts, I also received a Victor Martinez numbered to 499 with the same design as the base cards. The inserts are OK but pretty boring in my opinion. Each box comes with 1 autograph, 1 jersey card, and 1 of the serially numbered rookies. I didn't do too well on the hits and the rookie as you can see...
For set collectors, this box comes with great value. The cards look great and each box produces a near complete set. The box also guarantees two hits although the autograph checklist is pretty weak. Most baseball collectors have probably broken a box before, but if you haven't I would strongly recommend picking a box up. I'm placing this box in the best boxes category!
For two entries into the contest drawing:
What's the first set you completed or what's one you're working on?
I believe 1987 topps was the first set I ever completed. Working on 1969 topps but its a crawl!
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a team and player collector than a set collector, but I'd like to complete the 2011 Topps Pirates team set, as well as the 2009 Topps Gold Cubs team set. I'm already about halfway to both goals.
ReplyDeleteFirst set I ever completed? Heck if I know! Probably 1992 Topps. Sad, huh? I'm still trying to finish my 2011 Topps Series 2 set and 2009 Upper Deck.
ReplyDeleteI don't really try to complete sets but this year I am trying to put together some of the Ginter insert sets. On a side note, I had pretty good success busting 2006 Ovation before. I pulled a Jered Weaver auto and a Griffey auto to go along with Prince Fielder and Pujols relics as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall the first set I completed but my wants page shows what I am trying to complete now. 2011 Topps insert sets, 2010 Topps insert sets, etc.
ReplyDelete2010 Topps for baseball, trading cards in general, something Disney. Currently, 2011 & 2007 Topps.
ReplyDeleteWhile my main goal is complete my Mariners Super Set, the first completed set was 1979 Topps. My new baby is to start working on trying to do my favorite of all time, 1980 Topps.
ReplyDeleteI just did a blog post on a new set I decided to chase! 1968 Topps Game.
ReplyDeletefirst set I finished... 1979/80 OPC hockey.
ReplyDeleteSets I'm working on? Not enough space to list....
Right now I'm working on a bunch, but 2009 Sterling is the big one. 1986 Topps was the first I built.
ReplyDeleteMy first completed set was 1984 Fleer followed up closely by 1984 Donruss.
ReplyDeleteThe first set I completed was 1990 Topps. I'm working on a bunch of sets right now that I need some help on..
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a set builder, but I guess the set I'm closest to completing is 2011 Topps Series 1. Maybe I'll put a little more effort into it one day, but for now I'm focusing more on my player collections.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on the 1964 Topps Coins set amongst all the Mets team sets.
ReplyDeleteI sadly have not ever completed a set before. I am more of a team/player collector than a set guy. I am currently working on the 2011 Allen and Ginter set Ascent of Man. Those cards just look cool and will be pretty nice looking in a binder.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on the 2007 Bowman Heritage set and getting close, except for those pesky short prints, which I may or may not choose to care about.
ReplyDeleteFirst set I completed was 1989 Topps, and I'm currently working on 2011 Ginter and 2004 Fleer Platinum.
ReplyDeleteI started collecting in 1992, but it was likely 1994 or so by the time I tried to complete a set. I came into a bunch of cheap 1990 Donruss packs, and decided to try to complete it. I'm still short and have tons of duplicates, but I haven't gotten around to posting the want list on my blog just yet. I'm much closer to 2010 Topps Update; as I just need #40 and I'm done.
ReplyDeleteMy first was 87 Topps. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteFirst completed set was 1989 Topps. Currently working on both 2011 Ginter and 1971 Topps.
ReplyDeleteThe first set I ever completed was 1994 Score. I am working on a ton of sets now. Actively working on 2003 Bowman, 2010 Ginter, 2011 Ginter, 2011 Topps.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the first set I built... but I am working diligently on the 1978 Topps base set. Some day I'll get it done!
ReplyDelete90-91 Fleer basketball. I got a box of unopened packs as a gift, and being a short set, I completed it with the contents found inside.
